Most great leaders have a style that is unique to them and includes traits developed over time through a variety of leadership experiences. Great leaders tend to motivate and inspire. Effective leaders empower others to accomplish personal goals and contribute to the successful completion of group objectives.

Leadership traits refer to personal qualities that define effective leaders and below are the traits which are very near to my personality:

1. Effective Communication — Communication is a key ingredient in every aspect of life and so as in a leader.ship. There should be clear communication of expectations from team members. Leaders are excellent communicators, able to clearly and concisely explain problems and solutions. Leaders know when to talk and when to listen. In addition, leaders are able to communicate on different levels: 1–1, via phone, email, etc.

2. Lead by example — I personally believe in the professional development of others and set an example first to make an influence. I am in a position to model behaviors for others to emulate and model the actions I expect from my team. I always in hunger for learning new things and never feel shy to learn it from anyone.

3. Optimistic — An optimistic would say ‘Hope’ whereas a pessimist would say ‘wishful thinking’. But optimism in true sense is a quality of the mind and hence you can cultivate it. An optimistic leader acknowledges both good and bad in most situations, but chooses to focus on the good. An optimistic leader might not be successful and he does not give up without a fight and will appraise events objectively. Optimism can be contagious, so be optimist and see positivity spread.

4. Open Minded — A optimistic leader is also open to new ideas and feedback and this helps to collaborate, build relationships, and encourages creativity and innovation. I consistently provide others with positive feedback and ask others for their opinions before I make an important decision. Leaders must always be prepared to adjust their strategies to capture emerging opportunities or tackle unexpected challenges.

5. Demonstrates Integrity — Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having unshakable principals. A leader who shows integrity gains his team’s confidence and everyone should follow policy and procedures very closely. In case of any adverse/unwelcome situation, we need to hold ourselves accountable and responsible. So be honest and treat people well with respect.
